Area Rug & Oriental Rug Cleaning

Light Rug Cleaning: to be done in your home or at our shop.
Rug cleaning in your home is for minor soiled rugs and won’t remove odors or severe soils. Fringe is not cleaned with the light rug cleaning process, just groomed. 

* This is a safe, low moisture process that not only cleans your rugs, but will also bring out the rich colors again. Your rugs will be dry in 2 hours or less.

1. First, each rug is inspected for any pre-existing conditions.
2. Then we pre-spray the rug with our exclusive Citrus Fresh cleaner.
3. Next, we gently clean the rug with a rotary machine with a dirtnapper system. This bonnet and brush system cleans the rug fibers and wicks up embedded soil, dirt, stains and allergens in the rug.
4. Last, we vacuum the rug, using a commercial HEPA vacuum cleaner, which ensures that all the loose dirt and hair is effectively removed from the rug.
5. Fringes are given a final grooming with a horsehair brush.

Full Service Area Rug Cleaning: to be done at our shop.

1. First, each rug is inspected for any pre-existing conditions.
2. Then we “Dust” the rug. We do this process with a dusting machine that will vibrate/shake the dirt and sand out of the foundation of your rug. A wool rug can hold POUNDS of soil in its fibers. Flooding a rug with pounds of fine grit and dirt in the foundation creates mud. This is why a rug needs to be dusted before it gets wet!
3. The rug is washed using a mild rug shampoo and cool water; we avoid hot water, harsh detergents and high heat.
4. Fringes are hand washed and scrubbed during the washing process as needed.
5. After the rug has been thoroughly dried (we have moisture sensors that tell us when it is 100% dry), we give the rug a final grooming and fringes are groomed out with a horsehair brush. Then the rug is rolled and ready to go home.

*  We will pre-test all rugs for color fastness BEFORE cleaning. Some rugs that are not colorfast (particularly silk and some wool) may need to be dry-cleaned. Wool and cotton are NOT as stain resistant as nylon or olefin fibers that most installed carpet is made from. Therefore, wool and cotton may have permanent stains that cannot be removed with cleaning. Fringe will be hand cleaned as best as possible.

Benefits of Full Service Cleaning versus light cleaning:

We can spend more time soaking your rug if necessary with the full service cleaning. We can even perform a second or third cleaning if needed. A hand washing reduces moth larvae that eat up wool rugs. Excessively soiled rugs and/or rugs with odors problems particularly benefit from this service.
